Rivington Commercial Appraisers is a leading provider of real estate appraisal and consulting services in Eastern Ontario. Our team's extensive skillset and expertise allow us to provide appraisals and consulting services on a wide variety of specialty properties, including but not limited to: shopping centres, general commercial lands and buildings, industrial warehousing and complexes, subdivision/development property, farm and land appraisals, proposed or existing golf courses, tourist resorts, marinas, hotels, motels, and more.

Robert Rivington
Owner and Managing Partner

Rob is an owner and Managing Partner of Rivington Commercial Appraisers. He was born and raised in Ottawa and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University. He later completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Real Property Valuation from the University of British Columbia and earned his AACI, P.App. designation in 2013.
Rob has been completing narrative appraisal reports since 2005 and brings extensive experience valuing a wide range of property types, with a particular focus on agricultural properties. His client base includes lending institutions, legal professionals, and federal and provincial government departments, and he is known for delivering clear, well-supported valuation analysis for complex assignments.
A Partner at the firm, Rob combines technical expertise with practical market insight developed through nearly two decades of appraisal experience.
Outside of work, Rob enjoys skiing in the winter and spending summers on the lake with his wife and two children.
Don Edey

Don is an owner and Managing Partner of Rivington Commercial Appraisers and has been an AACI, P.App. designated member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 2008. Since joining the firm in 2005, he has developed extensive experience managing some of the company’s most complex and technically demanding valuation assignments.
Don specializes in the valuation of subdivisions, development lands, and hospitality properties, and has built significant expertise in specialized property types including conservation lands, waterlots, and Ecological Gifts (Eco-Gifts).
Throughout his career, Don has served as a trusted valuation consultant to federal, provincial, and municipal government departments, regularly providing appraisal services related to expropriation and other public sector valuation matters. His work is grounded in detailed market research and a strong understanding of regulatory and land-use considerations.
Outside of work, Don enjoys skiing in the winter and spending summers at the cottage with his wife, Steph, and their two children, Jilliane and Thomas.
Patrick Scott

P.App Professional Appraiser Designation
Patrick began his appraisal career in 2007 as a Candidate Member in his hometown of Kingston, where he developed foundational experience conducting residential property appraisals.
In 2010, he joined Rivington Commercial Appraisers, expanding his practice to include commercial and industrial properties. In 2022, Patrick earned his Canadian Residential Appraiser (CRA) designation from the Appraisal Institute of Canada.
Throughout his career, he has prepared comprehensive narrative appraisal reports for a wide range of property types, including agricultural, industrial, commercial, recreational, and multi-tenant properties, as well as form reports for single-family residential dwellings.
Based in Kingston, Patrick enjoys spending the summer months boating on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Winter, however, is simply tolerated.
Josie Leaman

P.App Professional Appraiser Designation
Josie holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Food and Agricultural Business from the University of Guelph. She completed her Post-Graduate Certificate in Valuation in 2020 and earned her AACI, P.App. designation in 2021.
Raised just outside Arnprior on her family’s dairy and cash crop farm, Josie brings extensive firsthand knowledge of the agricultural sector to her appraisal work.
Her areas of specialization include agricultural properties, with particular expertise in dairy farms, hobby farms, cash crop operations, and grain elevators.
Outside of her profession, Josie volunteers with Carleton 4-H and the Carp Agricultural Society, maintaining strong connections within the local agricultural community.
James Rowan

James Rowan is an Appraisal Institute of Canada designated commercial real estate appraiser with Rivington Commercial Appraisers, with over 12 years of experience in income properties, development land, and institutional and government work.
A member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada since 2014, he holds the P.App., AACI designation. James holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Carleton University and a Diploma in Urban Land Economics (DULE) from the University of British Columbia.
Based out of Rivington's Perth office, James serves clients across Eastern Ontario.
Before becoming an appraiser, James worked across a range of industries including banking, hospitality, construction, and skilled trades. He is also a licensed REALTOR® and a multi-family property investor, giving him a thorough understanding of the decisions clients may face.
Outside of work, James stays busy with his active lifestyle. Whether he's hard at work on his latest construction project, out on his bike, or on the lake with his family.
Ryan MacIntosh

P.App Professional Appraiser Designation
Ryan is a designated commercial real estate appraiser with over a decade of experience in the real estate industry.
Originally from Carleton Place, Ontario, he joined Rivington Commercial Appraisers in 2019 and earned his AACI, P.App. designation in 2026.
Ryan takes pride in developing a strong understanding of the communities he serves and values the relationships he builds with local investors and business owners throughout the Ottawa Valley.
His client base includes government agencies, lenders, corporations, and private investors, and he has experience across a diverse range of property types and valuation assignments.
Outside of work, Ryan enjoys staying active, golfing, and spending time with his girlfriend and dog.

Danyal Rennie

Originally from St. Jacobs, Ontario, Daniel holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Real Estate and Housing from the University of Guelph, graduating with Distinction. He also earned a post-graduate certificate in Process Quality Engineering, achieving President’s Honour List recognition.
Danyal began his career with Rivington Commercial Appraisers in 2025 as a Candidate Member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada. Since joining the firm, he has contributed to valuation assignments involving commercial, industrial, residential, and vacant land properties across a range of market contexts. His work focuses on delivering clear, well-supported analysis to support informed real estate decision-making.
Danyal is currently progressing toward the AACI designation and remains committed to building his expertise while providing reliable and professional valuation services.
